Why I Love My Biometric Gun Safe

I have stored my hand gun in a small electronic safe for years. It sits in my closet and also holds my miscellaneous valuables and important documents. I never thought much of it until a friend told me a story that changed my thinking. He told me a story about when he was home one night and had just gone to bed. He heard a loud thud in the garage and went into his office to get his pistol to bring with him to check out the noise. He explained how with the adrenaline flowing, just waking up, and in the dark, it took him about 3 minutes to open his pistol safe. Although it was a false alarm, 3 minutes is a long time. Ironically, he has the same type of safe that I have.

The next day I went out and purchase a real handgun safe. I bought a biometric gun safe and I love it. I can open this safe in the dark without much problem at all. I simply find the fingerprint reader, put my finger on it and it opens in about 5 seconds. No fumbling for a combination, no trying to see in the dark. Just find the safe and it opens.

I also love that this safe is just for my pistol. I am not shuffling through papers and around jewelry boxes to get to my handgun. This is a dedicated handgun safe. It is now right under my side of the bed, so I can unlock it without getting out of bed. Much quicker and more stealthy than going into another room or fumbling around in the crowded closet.

I also love that although my wife doesn’t own a gun, by simply enrolling her fingerprints, she could open the safe in an emergency and have access to my pistol. This gives me peace of mind that if there is a problem when I am not home, she can get to it.

If you don’t own a biometric gun safe, you don’t know what you are missing.
