If you spend a lot of time cooking in the kitchen, you should choose a backsplash tile that will be easy to clean. Ceramic tile is a terrific choice for a kitchen backsplash. It is aesthetically pleasing, highly durable and resistant to stains. You do not need to spend a lot of time cleaning kitchen tiles to keep them looking fabulous. If you know how to take care of your tile properly, you should be able to keep your backsplash looking clean and new with little maintenance.
Daily Tile Care
Do not let grease and grime build up on your tiles, wipe your tiles with a damp cloth immediately after cooking. By taking a couple of minutes to wipe down your tiles each day, you will avoid having to deal with removing heavy grease and dirt build-up. If you do find yourself having to remove heavy grease build-up from your tile backsplash, then you will need to use a cleaning solution to get the tile surface clean.
All Natural Tile Cleaners
Many homemade cleaning solutions work just as well as the store brands. Non-toxic homemade cleaning solutions are perfect for those with young children or pets or those looking for environmentally friendly cleaning solutions. You can also save money by mixing up your own cleaning products. Mix 1/4 cup white vinegar with a gallon of water to clean your ceramic tile backsplash. Sprinkle baking soda on ceramic tile or directly onto sponge, and scrub with warm water to remove tough stains. Baking soda is also perfect for cleaning tile grout. Mix baking soda together with warm water to create a thick paste. Apply paste to grout and let sit for ten minutes, and then use a sponge or small cleaning brush to scrub the area; once the tile grout is clean rinse with water.
