A word about Protein:
Get started on your new healthy eating plan by including more protein than carbohydrates. Don’t stop eating carbohydrates – your body needs these. Carbohydrates are as important as Protein and Fat. Yes Fat.
Your body needs Fat but the right kind of Fat. We’ll get to that another time. During the initial stage focus on eating more protein. Many people have diets that contain 60-70% carbs. Eating this many carbs will contribute to belly fat.
Start by replacing carbs with lean proteins. Foods such as chicken, fish, turkey, ham, tofu and shrimp are good choices. Eating lean protein will put you on the right road and help you lose belly fat quickly. Try to balance your meals so that you consume 50% protein, 30% carbs and 20% fats. For fats use olive oil and olives.
Now let’s talk about calories for a moment and how that relates to the 50%/30%/20% guide.
