Halloween Rest in Peace Cookies

You will announce to your party guests their departure from this world on a delicious sugar cookie. Simple Halloween recipes are the best and this process is very easy, and takes very little time to do. All you will need to do is make enough sugar cookies that will allow each guest to have a cookie, plus some extras for mistakes, and some basic icing as well.

Start by making a batch of your favorite sugar cookies. This can be any recipe that you enjoy making. Instead of standard balls, make them in the shape of a headstone- you can cookie cutters if you have some or just make these with a flat knife, and let them cool for 20 minutes when you are done.

While they are baking, begin to make both gray icing and black icing as well. The black should be thin enough to write with, while the gray should be firm enough to use as a base. You can buy prepackaged black icing designed for writing, and this might be a good idea.

When the cookies have cool and are ready for icing, place a thick layer of gray frosting on the top. This should be done with each cookie. Don’t worry about going too thick, it is important there is some depth to the cookie with the icing. For a bit more edge you can add black or whitish piping around the outside of the cookie to make them really stand out.

Your writing on the cookies should be very simple, due to the limited space. Write the full name of the “victim” and then add the clever way they died. You can make it funny like, drowning if they are a really good swimmer, or if there is an inside joke in your group, you can use that too. Make the Halloween cookie light hearted and good natured since some people might be a little freaked out by them, but remember to have fun and enjoy.

When you serve these treats to your friends, make sure they know it is in good fun. This can be done by making a cookie of your own that says “Teased Friends on Halloween”.
