Everyone gets a little nervous when they have a first date. It can be a little nerve-wracking as you prepare. There are specific rituals and rules that you will need to follow to ensure that there is a second date with your potential love interest. And it will behoove you if you know what those are and can successfully execute them. You clearly like the person you’re going on the date with or you wouldn’t have accepted the invitation or asked for their company. When we like someone, we try to impress them. After all, no one wants a first date to be the only date they have with someone. You want to come across as confident, secure, and self-possessed. This will attract the opposite sex to you, since most people seek a mate who is self-confident and self-assured.
While you are on the date and in the company of your potential love interest, focus on what they are saying. Really listen to whatever they are telling you, whether it’s a drink order or a story about their childhood. If you don’t find what they are saying enchanting, you still need to focus on paying attention. If the topic of conversation isn’t interesting to you, then switch the topics when it’s an appropriate moment to do so. If you show disinterest in what they are talking about, you will absolutely turn them off to you in general as a potential mate.
You want to have a plan for the evening or afternoon of the date which includes romantic pick up lines. Do not depend on the day unfolding itself. If you pick up your date without any plan whatsoever, what are you communicating to them? You’re saying that you didn’t value your time with them enough to make any sort of plan. You also seem disorganized as well.
A date doesn’t have to be stunning and unusual. You can opt to have dinner or see a movie. You could also decide to go rock climbing or hiking. But you want to have a plan. Try to think of what would interest your date as well as yourself. The idea is have fun. If you want to go rock climbing, you would want to let your date know prior to arriving to pick them up as this will necessitate their wardrobe choices.
But also be flexible. Have a plan, but if your date has some other ideas for what they would like to do, then be open to changing your plans as well. The best thing to do is to suggest what you’d like to do at the same time you ask them to join you on a date. This will avoid confusion and upset. But when making plans with your date, be flexible. If you tend to be stubborn, this is not the time to reveal that. Everyone has varied interests and what you are passionate about is not necessarily the same thing your date is passionate about. You want to demonstrate that you know how to be a partner in a relationship and that is not by being selfish and stubborn.
But the overall goal is to enjoy yourself and for your date to enjoy themselves as well, part of this is through careful use of romantic pickup lines. You want to have a good time together. You want to make an impression and have a good time. What if the date goes awry? If your plans do go as you would’ve liked, try to keep a positive attitude and find something positive for the two of you to build upon for the next date. Keep a good sense of humor. And do not dismiss someone just because one date didn’t turn out as planned. If there was a connection between the two of you, surely you can rise above one bad dating experience.
These are not laws of dating. But these are guidelines to use to be more successful on your first date. You want to sail through what can be a potentially awkward time. First dates can be uncomfortable because you don’t know one another well. Stay calm, and let your true self shine through. You will be able to enjoy your date’s company and enjoy your time together.
