Things To Consider When Arranging Your Visa And Passport For Europe

If you are planning a trip to Europe anytime soon, then it’s vital that you arrange a passport and a visa. But what is it you need to DO exactly? This article will give you some tips on arranging your passport and what visa you need so you can travel Europe with ease.

Passport Tips

Here is my number one tip and it’s pretty important. Don’t, and I repeat, don’t leave organizing your passport to the very last minute! People who do that are just asking for trouble. When I was organizing a replacement for my passport for my latest trip, I actually ran into some problems that could only be resolved with TIME (I had to collect some more documents from my parents). If I wasn’t doing it three months before my trip, I would not have had the luxury of time and would have had to postpone my trip!

Another tip for passports when going to Europe, is to check whether you are eligible for an EU passport (what I mean here is a passport from a country that is listed in the European Union) through your parents. If you are, your trip just got a lot easier! With an EU passport you can travel and live anywhere in the European Union without a visa. Check out this site for more tips on planning your trip.

Visa Tips

The visa you will need to organize for Europe is known as the Schengen visa. This will let you into 25 countries within the European Union for up to 90 days in each country.

Things to check before ordering a Schengen visa:

Make sure all the countries you want to visit are actually listed as eligible countries in the Schengen visa (for example, Croatia is not part of the Schengen visa).

Check if it is actually needed for your trip. For example, US and Australian citizens are often allowed to enter countries for up to 30 days without a visa. If your trip is relatively short, it may be that you won’t even need to get a visa at all.

These are all pretty straightforward and basic tips, but not everyone has traveled before, so I hope they come in handy and prove useful when planning your upcoming trip to Europe!
