There’s something extra special about receiving a handmade cards. There are so many commercialized ‘Hallmark’ cards in the market that when you give someone something that has been handmade it can mean so much more.
The recipient of the card will acknowledge the time and love that it has taken to produce a card made especially with them in mind. The handmade movement is making a comeback and this includes gift cards. I believe there is something sentimental and truly wonderful about receiving something that another person has made themselves.
I’ve always been a creatively minded person, I grew up without a TV and was lucky enough to have a stay-at-home Mum who spent a lot of time with my brother and I making craft, painting and lots of general creative fun times! These are some of my favourite memories and I think really established my creative personality.
My brother and I always hand made cards for each other and our parents, I remember being so proud of the Christmas card that I made for my Mum in kindergarten. These are the objects that you can keep for a lifetime, those precious gifts.
Handmade cards don’t lose their sentimental value as you get older. Friends & family will all appreciate anything handmade that you make them. You can theme the card around something they love; draw some golf clubs for Dad; collage a love heart for Mum or paint a guitar for your brother; there is literally thousands of ideas for handmade cards.
If you aren’t so creatively or time inclined to create a card yourself there are lots of cards available that I believe make far better gifts than anything mass produced. Yes, they may cost a little extra but they will mean so much more.
